Online gambling can at times become a repetitive enough task to get almost boring for players. Many use a particular pattern of betting over and over; finding it hard to even have to look at outcomes of spins and click on re-bet or spin. Others, however, believe that this feature removes the essence of gambling and prefer not to use it at any time.
For this kind of players, auto play is a real boost, as it enables them to pre – set a particular number of spins and do something else while the software takes care of all else and – hopefully – makes some money for them.
Playtech, Cryptologic and Microgaming have all included this auto play feature in their software.
The most sophisticated out of the three is the auto play feature used by Microgaming, as many more functions can be customised. These functions include the number of spins, the interval between spins (in seconds) and a variety of stopping options - for instance stops if: all spins are complete/ jackpot is won/ a win equals or exceeds x amount/ credits increase/ decrease by x amount or stop on any win. It is available for slots as well as other games, such a Blackjack, Roulette and Video Poker.
The real benefit of the Microgaming auto play comes into play when it is used in expert mode. Here players can choose either to use the optimum strategy built into the software, or customise the software to their own personal requirements. In this case, the computer will record every move in each of the set numbers of games played and players can then evaluate their personal strategies by comparing expected and actual payouts.
In the Gold Series Blackjack games, an optimum strategy card is provided, stating when players should hit, stand, split or double (according to the rules for the specific game). The strategy card can be overwritten by players to accommodate their own choices.
The auto play in Roulette is used in conjunction with Bet Layout functions, allowing players to make a choice from a variety of offered betting options, which will then be saved for use during auto play.
Crytologic and Playtech auto plays are only available for their slot games. The auto play in Playtech’s software can be pre – set to stop if payout is greater than x amount, but not if a bonus game or round is hit. Cryptologic’s auto play, the simplest out of the three, will only allow a number of spins to be selected by the player and will then continue play without stopping until all spins are completed.
