Microgaming’s software for this game provides a range of features from strategy auto play and a re-bet facility (for those not wanting to use auto play, but wish to place the same bet for each game) through various game speeds (four without disabling animations, as well as Quick Deal, where cards are dealt instantly) and both simple or expert statistics to a range of options to customise the audio features – game sounds (the sounds of chips moving and cards being dealt), background music, win sounds and the advanced sound (dealer’s voice) can all be independently enabled or disabled – you name it, it’s there.
The graphics and animations aren’t out of the ordinary, but then they don’t need to be for Blackjack.
Regular players of Blackjack will find the rules of this game easy enough to understand, and new players will find the excellent help files useful to familiarise them selves with the terms involved. The rules for the additional side bet are easy enough to understand.
Casino players start the game by clicking on the chip of their chosen denomination and then placing the bet by clicking on the appropriate betting area. By right clicking on the area, chips can be removed one by one. One of two buttons needs to be selected next – Clear Bet will remove the bet, while Deal will result in one card being dealt to the dealer and two cards being dealt to the player. The side bet is decided according to the value of the player’s hand. The bet is now settled and the chips are removed from the table. Available options – Stand, Hit, Split, Double and Insurance – will be highlighted and the gambler makes his choice. Bets are settled when the game ends and, if in default mode, the cards are removed. Players do have the option of keeping cards on the table by checking the box in the game settings.
Players can choose to re bet the original amount, double it or place a completely different bet by following the steps outlined above.
The expert mode of auto play makes it possible for the player to stipulate a specific number of deals and the intervals between them. He can also set a variety of conditions which will automatically stop auto play (for an instance stop on a win or a specific win amount, or stop if credits either decrease or increase by a specific amount). By default, Blackjack auto play will run using a standard optimum strategy. This is fed into a strategy card, which players are able to edit according to their own strategy. Changes can then be saved and auto play will use the revised strategy. However, it is recommended to use the default strategy.
As the game is quite repetitive, those with a passion for Blackjack will enjoy it more than others. However, the side bets – as well as the dealer’s voices – do enhance the game and make it more entertaining.
